GOMA (Reuters) – The World Health Organization (WHO) said Tuesday it has fed more than 1,300 people who may have caught the Ebola virus in the city of Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo. to contain what many fear to see spread quickly to an urban center. The Democratic Republic of the Congo has killed at least 1,800 people and militia violence and the refusal of interference from some local residents have hindered efforts to contain the virus.
Goma has been on high alert in the last seven days after a gold mine infected a large number of people before his death. Goma has a population of about 2 million inhabitants and overlooks a lake on the border with Rwanda.
No new confirmed cases have been reported in Goma since the last report of the WHO, August 2.
