The body of an Egyptian footballer was found on the Nile

Egyptian authorities said they found the body of Egyptian football player Abdullah Sami from the Nile in Giza governorate south of Cairo.

Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper said Thursday that the rescue forces had managed to recover Sami's body in the town of Saf, which is located inside the Giza border south of Cairo.

She said preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased player drowned near the debtor's ferry.

Abdallah Sami has already played for Al Ittihad, El Gouna, Railway and others, but he was not very well known.

Egyptian media say Sami, 31, was playing in defense.

He began his sports career at the Beni Suef Telephones Club before moving to the Mahalla fishing team, according to Al-Yawm Al-Sabea.
