News Citizen sues Municipal Affairs to charge people with disabilities

A photoA disabled citizen filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, represented by the Municipality of Taif, after breaking the highway code for stopping his car with paid parking in the central Taif area.

Taif Municipality said during the first session of the administrative court, according to "Okaz", that it had allocated 20 parking spaces for disabled people and offered free hours from 22:00 to 08:00 and from 12:00 to 16:00.

The Secretariat added that the purpose of the parking lot organization is to allow market participants to benefit from parking and not to reserve it for long periods of time by asking the court to dismiss the case.

For his part, prosecutor Thamer Al-Yami emphasized that the authorities concerned urged all government agencies to take into account the availability of services for persons with disabilities and to impose technical requirements on the posts assigned to them, including provision of ramps for access to vehicles, the creation of private car parks and pedestrian lines.

He considered that he had suffered no – fault damages, due to fines to be paid by him against the National Parking Company; Municipal and rural affairs, preventing them from charging fees to people with disabilities.
