WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A giant rock will hit the planet next month, the US space agency said Thursday.
The rock, or asteroid, is called "2000 QW7" and must roll at an unprecedented speed of 14,361 mph.
It is expected to pass "2000 OW7" near the Earth for a distance of 3.3 million miles on September 14.
NASA director Jim Pridenstein warned of a possible collision of asteroids, predicting a fatal collision for which the Earth was not prepared.
