The Ministry of Health has authorized pharmacies to provide urgent and non-urgent medical care, immunization services and vital signs measurement within the pharmacy, after meeting the requirements set out in the system.
According to the Implementing Regulation of the modified system of pharmaceutical preparations and facilities, recently approved by the Minister of Health, Tawfiq Alrabiah, pharmacies are authorized to provide pharmaceutical care services, including vaccinations, biometric health education and training in the use of electronic devices.
The regulation also allowed for the opening of urgent medical care centers within the pharmacy with an independent license and the provision of non-emergency medical services after ministry approval, as well as the opening of pharmacies in the outlets.
The regulation states that the ministry should license pharmacy and online herbal sales establishments and approve the use of vending machines.
She stated that pharmaceutical products can only be sold if their official price and registration number are printed on their outer envelope and recorded in the electronic tracking system.
