Death of Bahraini artist Mohammed Awad at the age of 81

The Bahraini Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) paid tribute to author, director and playwright Mohammed Awad, who died at the age of 81 after a long journey.

"The Bahraini art scene has lost a symbol of the Gulf art scene, which clearly contributed to the theatrical movement, writing, directing and acting," the authority said. a statement.

Nabil al-Hamar, a media advisor to the King of Bahrain, also cried on Twitter, saying: "Bahrain has lost a theatrical, literary and cultural stature today."

"Its appeal for artistic and theatrical offerings since the 1960s has been a major influential creator and has enriched the theatrical and cultural movement in Bahrain and the Persian Gulf."

Awad was born in July 1938 in the district of Gudaibiya in Manama. He began his career as an art teacher before founding the theater comedy group in 1968, and in 1970 he co-founded the Bahraini Theater Group, which later became the Awal theater.

He played many pieces such as (antique chair), (if your time was obscured), (singer and princess), (Ya Lail), (Boukhil on the ground), (market), (Halima and Mansour), ( melon market) and (the way of justice)) and others.

In 1981, he took the leadership of the National Theater Company of the Ministry of Information and was appointed supervisor to oversee the artistic works of the Ministry of Information.
