Huawei is confident in building 5G networks in the UK despite contradictory reports

Following a US embargo on Huawei earlier this year, the US government has warned its allies against being cautious about using Huawei equipment in its major communications networks because of security concerns against China. A recent leak revealed that the UK National Security Council and the British government had plans to use Huawei 5G equipment in some non-major parts of its 5G network infrastructure.

After the leak, British Digital Secretary Nicky Morgan told the BBC that "the right decision" should be taken in the long term once in the fall. Despite a fragile future, Huawei is still convinced that the UK will choose to work with. After all, the Chinese company has already helped set up the first 5G networks for Vodafone and EE last month.

Huawei will continue to "work with operators to launch 5G networks across the UK," Huawei spokesman told Euractiv. The company also looks forward to the UK government's decision in the fall on its future in the UK.

The ban imposed by the US government on Huawei has tarnished its reputation and led to a drop in sales of its smartphones. The decision prompted the Chinese company to create its own operating system, which would serve as a back-up solution in the event that Google withdraws its Android license, suggesting that Huawei was ready for all scenarios. Despite its ban, Huawei continues to grow steadily and is poised to become the world's best-selling smartphone company.
