NASA researchers are leading a new experiment by attaching a drone to a small explorer and launching it on Mars.
NASA officials have announced that engineers from the agency's propulsion laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., Were working to connect a small Mars helicopter to Mars 2020, where the duo is expected to launch in July 2020 and land in the area of the crater of Jezero on the Red Planet in February 2021.
"Our mission is to demonstrate that an autonomous and controlled flight can be carried out in the very fine atmosphere of Mars," said the Mars 2020 project leader.
