A Vietnamese refugee in Canada who won 60 million Canadian dollars in the draw waited 10 months to psychologically prepare for the immense wealth.
"I was thinking about the impact of this injustice on my family," Bon Trung said at a press conference Wednesday night in Edmonton, Alberta.
Ten months after selecting the right numbers for the Canadian lottery draw, which had been entrusted to him for decades, Trong went to the Canadian Lottery Commission to receive his award, saying, "We are ready ".
Trung plans to use the money to pay off his home loan and other bills and take time off before returning to work as a gardener.
Trung has not yet announced the prize he has won to his young children, for the sake of teaching them the principles of work. "He told them about 10 or 20 years later," he joked.
Good Trong, 55, and his family arrived in Canada 36 years ago to flee the war in Vietnam.
Her relative, who attended the press conference, told Trung and her family that "the destitute have arrived here after the war in Vietnam and that they have worked hard, I am happy for them."
