The Saudi Certified Public Accountants Organization revealed that the number of foreigners enrolled in the professional registration program, launched last week in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, amounted to about 5,000 accountants in a period of three days.
According to Al-Eqtisadiah, the secretary general of the Authority, Ahmed Al-Maghamsi, said that the Authority is responsible for collecting data and information on the profession of accountants and the jobs in which they practice, and to ensure that private sector accountants are qualified to practice in this occupation.
Al-Maghamsi indicated that the Authority would return the holders of the false certificates to the competent authorities so that they take the necessary measures against them, stating that experienced accountants not possessing the scientific qualifications in accounting specialization will allow them to continue to practice the profession if they developed themselves through training courses.
Since the beginning of the month of Muharram, the Authority has forced practitioners of the accounting profession and the complementary or auxiliary professions of expatriate accountants to obtain accreditation from the Authority, which is one of the conditions for applying to issuance and renewal of work permits and changes to professions.
