The Narcotics Control Branch thwarted attempts to smuggle nearly 33 million amphetamine tablets during the months of Ramadan, Shawwal and Dhi Al-Qa'a.
The official spokesman for the Directorate said that the process of overthrowing smuggling gangs comes after the release of information on a plan to introduce large quantities of narcotics into the Kingdom, and that Security measures were taken to anticipate attempts by these gangs to smuggle them into coordination and cooperation with counterparts in countries using their territories.
He pointed out that the efforts of the joint security agencies had resulted in seizing more than 18.7 million "amphetamine" tablets during the month of Ramadan, after his arrival in the Kingdom, and stopping the those involved in the planning and reception of the number of 15 accused, including six citizens and four Turks, two Pakistanis, two Jordanians and two in Syria.
About 11 million amphetamine tablets were en route to the Kingdom during the month of Shawwal, in the port of a sister country. .
