NASA took an amazing picture of a massive avalanche on Mars that resulted from early spring on the red planet.
Scientists have identified the event, when a cloud of dust fell on the side of the mountain, which they said was caused by the ice that fell on its north pole.
The beautiful images of Mars Mars Orbiter show a column of dust above the red planet.
The rare event was announced by engineers from the University of Arizona, who created the HiRise HD camera, mounted on Mars, Tuesday, September 3.
Planet scientist Candy Hansen said, "Every spring, the sun shines on the Arctic layer of Mars, known as Arctic sediments."
The glaciers collapsed at the bottom of a cliff 500 meters high, creating a huge cloud of dust in May. This cloud is fully visible on the photo published this week.
