Argentine football legend Diego Maradona will oversee his training, the troubled club of Gimnasia La Plata said on Thursday.
"Welcome Diego", writes the club via his Twitter account, hosting a speech in Spanish, Portuguese, French, English and Russian.
"Every corner of the most beautiful club in the world greets you," added the club, based in La Plata, 60 km from the capital Buenos Aires, which currently occupies the last place in the ranking.
Maradona, former captain and coach of Argentina, left his coaching position at the Dorado Second Division team in Sinaloa Mexico in June, just nine months after taking office.
The former star of Napoli, who led his country to his second world championship title (Mexico 1986), has suffered from health and physical problems in recent years, including cocaine abuse and addiction, especially after being overweight.
In January, reports in the Argentine press revealed that Maradona had been hospitalized and had undergone surgery to treat gastrointestinal bleeding. He also underwent another left-shoulder surgery in 2017 in Dubai, when he oversaw the United Arab Emirates Second Division team, Fujairah.
