"Honor" launches smart app supported by artificial intelligence for the visually impaired

Honor announced at this year's IFA show a new color option for its Honor 20 Pro phone, as well as a wider market for the Honor Band 5 and a new smart app helping visually impaired users to read the text.

The new app calls PocketVision. It is powered by the Honor AI artificial intelligence and the Honor 20 series smartphones HD camera. It can also help the visually impaired to read documents and lists.

Up to now, several modes are available, including "Text-to-speech mode, Negative image zoom mode".

The first refers to a text and the phone reads aloud. It works in English, Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese, Italian and German using HiAI and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) converting images to text.

The Zoom-In mode uses the 48-megapixel main camera of the Honor 20 family and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens to enlarge the text with volume buttons offering great text clarity. Finally, Negative Image Mode provides a wide range of color filters to enhance the image by improving the contrast of the text.

PocketVision is available in Huawei AppGallery and can be installed on all Honor smartphones, but it will work better with the Honor 20 series.
