One of the engines of an aircraft carrying hundreds of Nigerian pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia suffered a technical malfunction;
A source at Mina Airport said the plane was carrying 550 passengers from Saudi Arabia after making the Hajj pilgrimage.
He added: "He hit the track and slipped down the hall and damaged part of the runway, and some airport facilities were damaged as a result of the serious incident."
The source pointed out that the incident "was very serious and had almost caused a humanitarian disaster at the airport, which is not available for fire engines".
