Honor launches a new smart app optimized by artificial intelligence for the visually impaired

At the recent IFA 2019 held in Berlin, Huawei's sub-brand Honor unveiled new colors for the Honor 20 Pro phone and greater availability of the Honor Band 5 fitness bracelet, as well as a new smart app helping visually impaired users to read texts.

This app calls PocketVision and uses Honor AI and HD cameras in Honor 20 Series phones. This app can help visually impaired people to read documents, lists and everything else. Up to now, three modes are available: the speech synthesis mode, the zoom in mode and the negative image mode.

For the first mode, it converts text into speech, all you have to do is point text and the phone will read it aloud. This mode supports English, Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese, Italian and German languages ​​with the HiAI platform and OCR by converting images to text.

As for the Zoom-In mode, it uses the main 48-megapixel camera of the Honor 20 series and the 8-megapixel telephoto lens to enlarge the text using the volume control buttons, to ensure excellent text clarity . Finally, Negative Image Mode offers a wide range of color filters to enhance the image by enhancing the contrast of the text.

Overall, the new PocketVision app is available in the Huawei AppGallery store and can be installed on all Honor phones, but it will work better on Honor 20 Series phones.
