Farouk Harakat – Agencies – Former Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher woke up from a coma he had entered a few years ago, reported the French newspaper Le Parisien.
"Schumacher became aware of what is happening around him after receiving stem cell therapy at a Paris hospital," the paper said.
"I can tell you that he (Schumacher) is aware, said a nurse, according to the source.The treatment was based on the transfer of stem cells to Schumacher's body, which help reduce inflammation."
The newspaper reported earlier that the famous German driver had been taken to the hospital for "secret treatment".
Schumacher has not appeared in the media since his head injury in the French Alps five years ago, following serious head injuries, and has fallen into a coma.
Schumacher is expected to leave the hospital later in the day.
The newspaper Le Parisien, quoted by anonymous sources, reportedly stated that Schumacher had been treated at least twice in this hospital, and had been admitted under a pseudonym each time and treated by a small medical team.
