Saudi police reveal details of a bloody feud in Jeddah

The Mecca police revealed elements of a bloody fight near a highway in Jeddah City, explaining that the expat listed in the video clip had been killed after being crushed by a car at high speed while he was fleeing the fight.

Police said in a statement that the quarrel erupted Tuesday near the Asfan highway, north of Jeddah, and that the parties were Ethiopian expatriates residing in the country.

The statement added that 10 people involved in the fray were arrested and that legal proceedings were instituted against them.

The video posted a remarkable spread on social networking sites in Saudi Arabia, showing the moment of the shocking collision of the expatriate who had flown in the air at high altitude before falling on the road, motionless.

The bloody quarrel, the reasons for which are not yet known, has provoked outrage among Saudis, among calls to seize foreign immigrants who violate the system of residence and local laws, in a country that hosts some 13 million from foreigners of different nationalities.
