Huawei plans to sell fifth-generation software to Western competitor

Huawei could sell "permanent access" to existing patents, licenses, codes, software and 5G production methods to a Western buyer for a single price, said company president Ren Zhengfei in an interview with The Economist.

According to The Economist, the buyer could change the source code, which means that neither Huawei nor the Chinese government can control the communication infrastructure built with the help of the equipment that the new company will produce,

On the other hand, Huawei will be able to develop its own technology in the direction you want.

Huawei confirmed Tuesday that it had withdrawn the lawsuit against the US administration after Washington released the telecommunication equipment it owned two years ago on suspicion of violating export controls.

The company, which was blacklisted by the United States earlier this year, said Washington had returned the material in August after making sure it did not need an export license.

The United States accuses Huawei of facilitating espionage within the Chinese government and lobbied its Western allies for that they do not use the company's technology. Huawei denies the authenticity of espionage allegations.

The company has become a major center of the US-China trade war. Tensions between the two countries eased slightly after the Group of 20 summit held in Japan at the end of June, during which the two sides decided to resume negotiations.
