A new Australian study has found quality supplements helpful for some common mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and the schizophrenia. The study was based on a review of health data from a large number of patients to find nutrients that mitigate the symptoms of each problem.

The study conducted at the University of West Sydney found that omega-3 supplements are a nutrient that relieves depression and anxiety and helps improve attention-deficit hyperactivity.

The researchers discovered that folic acid or vitamin B9 is a nutrient that relieves the symptoms of schizophrenia.

The team found no evidence that dietary supplements could play an important role in treating or ameliorating the lives of people with other mental problems.

The results of the study warned that the risk of taking larger doses of supplements, and that taking them, does not replace the medications prescribed by the doctor, but is a catalyst to mitigate the effects of the problem.
