Turkey registers a current account surplus

Turkey's current account surplus in July amounted to $ 1.158 billion, according to data released Friday by the Central Bank of Turkey on the balance of payments.

This occurred after the current account recorded a deficit of $ 2.178 million in the same period last year.

The data showed that this evolution was due, inter alia, to the reduction of the foreign trade deficit.

Economists expected the current account balance to see a $ 1.11 billion surplus in July.

The balance of payments records all trade (goods and services), as well as all financial flows taking place during a given period between a given country and the rest of the world.

The current account includes all transactions related to the export and import of goods and services, as well as current income and transfers.
