He pointed out that the attribution of 15 September each year to celebrate Arab meteorology was the result of the agreement of the Arab countries at the level of the relevant ministers of meteorological departments on the basis of the proposals of the Arab Committee of meteorology chaired by Jordan.
Al-Momani, who is also the managing director of the Jordan Meteorological Department, said the department is continuously and substantially developing its forecasting and meteorological systems and training its managers to increase the accuracy of weather forecasts, which are have become evident in recent years, to cope with the magnitude of the problems related to meteorological phenomena, including violent ones. The last season of 2019/18 saw many weather events that were the heaviest in 15 years.
He said that the Jordan Meteorological Department had subsequently provided the relevant authorities and the local community with accurate and timely weather and warning bulletins to act in all sectors. It had also provided the State of Palestine with useful information for taking risks related to certain meteorological phenomena in the region.
Momani emphasized that the services provided by the Jordanian Meteorological Department to the economic, services, aviation and agricultural sectors were one of the pillars of the preparation of development plans and plans. future projects and the implementation of future projects in this area.
