Jeddah Health reveals circumstances in which some 40 people escape mental health

The Department of Communication, Outreach and Relationships at Jeddah Health commented on the incident of forty escapees from the psychiatric hospital on Saturday night.

The department confirmed in a statement that the patient had presented to the psychiatric hospital on Wednesday morning and that emergency doctors had diagnosed him with chronic mental schizophrenia.

She added that he had been admitted to the hospital on several occasions and had been referred about four times by decision of the medical board, stressing that he had considered the urgency for evaluation and that he had not noticed any serious psychological symptoms such as irritability or violence and abuse.

She also pointed out that her condition did not require sedative psychological treatment, while the doctors decided to enter and that the patient came out of the emergency without observing the nurse responsible for his condition, along with the simultaneous presence of a large number of emergency examiners.

The administration added that the necessary formal procedures had been initiated in such cases, the parents having been informed and the incident written, pointing out that the nurse in charge of the case had been referred to the service concerned for investigation and regular sanction.
