The prosecutor's office revealed Tuesday the sentence of active bribery or the promise made by a public official or his equivalent to force him to breach his professional obligations, the latter being considered one of the major crimes requiring arrest.
People sentenced to pay a bribe are liable to a term of imprisonment of up to 10 years and a fine of up to one million people. riyals, or one of these penalties, in accordance with Article 9 of the Anti-Corruption Act.
The Attorney General explained that offering or promising a bribe to an official is a crime against whoever he offers or promises, even if he is not accepted, and is punishable under the terms applicable regulations.
