The case of the smuggling of former Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn from Japan is back in the foreground.
The US State Department has agreed to extradite to Japan two men from Massachusetts accused by Japanese authorities of helping smuggle Ghosn out of the country while awaiting trial for financial misconduct.
Former US Special Forces Army attorneys Michael Taylor and his son Peter have revealed the department’s decision in a trial in Federal Court in Boston.
However, a US judge ordered the delay in surrendering the two men to Tokyo.
Arrest and charge
It is reported that the former Nissan boss was arrested in Japan at the end of 2018 for failing to report his income and using company funds for personal gain, Ghosn denied.
At the end of December, he fled house arrest in Japan, where he was awaiting trial, in Beirut, his hometown.
Additionally, Japan accused the two of helping Ghosn escape and asked the United States to hand them over.
