Virtual reality is not useful for PlayStation games

Sony suggests that there may not be a major breakthrough in VR for some time and that it may be two years before the actual launch of VR begins.

Jim Ryan said (Jim ryan), CEO and Director of Sony Interactive Entertainment: Virtual reality will not be a useful part of interactive entertainment in the near future.

Ryan told the Washington Post that virtual reality still has a long way to go, although he stressed that Sony is not giving up on this environment.

Statements suggest that Sony’s update (PlayStation VR) is still a long way off.

He added: (PlayStation) believes in virtual reality, and Sony believes in virtual reality, and we certainly believe that (VR) will be a significant part of interactive entertainment at some point in the future, but it won’t happen. this year or next year.

He said: We are very happy with all the experience we have had with (PlayStation VR), and we look forward to seeing the next steps in the future.

It says that the next device (PlayStation 5), which will be released on November 12, supports older glasses (PlayStation VR) through a special adapter.

The company is offering the converter for free for gamers to use the glasses with the next platform, while the platform support still supports the glasses, with access to Hitman 3 (PSVR).

Tying VR’s success to some time in the future and ruling out its being useful in 2020 or 2021 isn’t a positive thing – at least compared to Sony’s rival Facebook, which recently released Oculus Quest 2.

Sony has always been cautious about its VR plans.

PlayStation System Engineer Mark Cerny said: In April 2019: VR is very important to us, without giving more details.

Dominic Mallinson, head of research and development, said: No new glasses are coming alongside the PlayStation 5.

And Mallinson seems to take the next-gen PSVR for granted, discussing features like: eye tracking and updated controls.

Ryan last month described VR as an unproven space, but Sony is still really fascinated and excited about it.
