A team of astronomers have confirmed they have finally found the missing lunar twin, whose existence has been confirmed by much previous research, but found in an unexpected location.

Scientists used a group of observatories such as the “Armagh” and Planetarium Observatory (AOP) in Northern Ireland, and the European Southern Observatory (ESO), in addition to the Vulnerable Telescope (VLT) to study space rocks and find the missing twin moon.

Scientists observed a planet very similar to the moon with a width of 7,440 km (3,280 feet), called (101429) 1998 VF31.

Analysis of the captured images revealed the great similarity between the moon and its twin moon, which has long been hidden in an unexpected location behind the planet Mars.

According to study author Apostolus Christo, published in the British “Daily Mail”, it is possible that the twin moon was part of the moon, but an enormous force moved it during the formative years of the solar system. , that is, about four billion years ago.

Dr Christo studied the twins with a technique called spectral matching, and said, “This process is similar to the image recognition process that police use to hunt scammers.” He added: “You are trying to match your data – the spectral profile – with the same type of data pulled from other objects.” , For example asteroids or other meteorites. ”

Neither of these matches were satisfactory, until we included the spectra of the moon in our analysis, the similarity to parts of the moon’s surface was very striking.

The twin asteroid is part of a group known as the Martian “Trojans”, whose origin, since their discovery 22 years ago, has remained a strange astronomical mystery.

But applied research on the twin asteroid has proven that its structure is completely different from the rest of the asteroids scattered around the Trojan horse, and that its structure is completely identical to that of the moon, according to the scientific journal “Phys” specializing in space science.

The planet revolves around the sun at an angle of about 60 degrees to the sun, and it never revolves around Mars, but rather remains hidden behind it.
