Al Marsad Journal: Today, the National Cybersecurity Guidance Center issued a high-risk security warning regarding a WhatsApp security update.
The center said the risk level of the warning is high and it targets all industries, explaining that WhatsApp has released an update to address a number of gaps in the following products:
WhatsApp for iOS before v2.20.111
WhatsApp Business for iOS prior to v2.20.111
The center revealed that the attacker could exploit loopholes, implement malware and crashes in memory, in addition to bad authorization for the lock screen feature, by allowing Siri to interact with it. WhatsApp application even after locking the device.
Regarding preventive measures, the center recommended updating the affected versions, because WhatsApp has posted an explanation of these updates: https://www.whatsapp.com/security/advisories/2020
As for how to update, the center said: Go to App Store and search for WhatsApp, then tap Update.
