US drug maker Pfizer said today, Monday, that its experimental vaccine to treat Covid-19 disease is over 90% effective, a major victory in the battle against the epidemic that has killed more than a million people and devastated the global economy and upside down everyday lifestyles.

The discovery that 90% of infections were prevented by the Pfizer vaccine could excite politicians and public health officials and possibly end the epidemic.
More than 43,000 people have participated in the phase III trials.
The company says it appears people from black ethnic minorities are as well protected as everyone else.
Pfizer said it will take until the third week of November to collect the required safety data, and then the case will be submitted to regulators for approval.
According to the company; An accelerated license could mean giving health workers the first doses by the end of the year.
