The Togolese Football Federation has announced the joining of professional Laba Kodja to the Emirati ranks of Al Ain, before facing the Egyptian team in the match scheduled for next Saturday in the third round of the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations, which will take place in Cameroon.
According to the official page of the Togolese Federation on the social networking site “Twitter”, Al Ain Club had agreed to join the Togolese national team, before facing the Egyptian team.
Majed Al Owais, member of the board of directors of the Al Ain club, said in statements on the “On Time Sports 2” screen, that his club had not prevented Kodja from being sent to his country, revealing that injury was the reason for his absence from the game against Egypt. (See the details)
Kodja is considered one of the most important elements of the Togolese national team, with the 28-year-old having managed to score 12 international goals in 30 appearances.
With Al Ain, Koudja has scored 24 goals and six crucial goals in 29 appearances in all competitions since joining the ranks of Moroccan club RS Berkane last summer.
The Togolese national team is in group G with each of the teams: (Egypt – Comoros – Kenya), where the Togolese team is at the bottom of the standings with one point, on the other hand the Comoros team is in the lead with five points , followed by Kenya with three points, then Egypt with two points.
Kenya and Comoros opened their third round group competition matches on Wednesday, with the game ending in a draw (1-1).
