Jared Kouchner, senior adviser to US President Donald Trump, stressed that it was possible and logical that the 22 Arab countries would one day conclude peace agreements with Israel.

Kouchner revealed in an exclusive interview with UAE news agency “WAM” today in Abu Dhabi that a peace deal would be signed between an Arab country – he did not name it – and Israel, “in a few month”.

Egypt is the first Arab country to sign a peace treaty with Israel in 1978, followed by Jordan in 1994, then the United Arab Emirates in 2020.

In response to a question about the expected time frame for a fourth Arab country to reach a peace deal with Israel, he said: “We hope it will be in a few months.”
Kouchner added: “We cannot solve the problems by boycotting each other, therefore peace and the availability of economic and trade exchanges will strengthen the strength and stability of the Middle East.”

Kouchner is leading a high-level American and Israeli delegation on a historic visit to the United Arab Emirates since yesterday, aboard Israel’s first commercial flight to Abu Dhabi.

Kouchner met yesterday His Highness Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, and His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in the presence of Meir bin Shabat, advisor and president of the Israeli National Security Council, and Robert O’Brien, US National Security Advisor.

When asked if he thought that one day the 22 Arab countries could make peace deals with Israel, Kushner said, “It’s 100% possible.” And I think it makes sense for you to do this because it’s the best option to do it gradually.

He added: “I am an optimistic person by nature, and it is a blessing and a curse in both my life … To be an optimistic person is more wonderful than to be a pessimist … There are a thousand. reasons why this should happen (i.e. reaching a peace deal with Israel / ..) There are several reasons why this should not happen and I hope the leaders have the strength and the courage to make the right decisions and not be frustrated by the minority who oppose them.

Kouchner pointed out that “Twitter is not a real place to watch opinions … There are people who are angry on Twitter about the peace agreement and there are also extremists … and people who oppose peace are against progress … it’s about giving everyone a chance and it’s about respecting religions and supporting stability in the region. ” You were against it, so what are you promoting? .. You promote extremism, discrimination and hatred. “

He added: “Thanks to the leadership of the United Arab Emirates, there will be a greater alliance … and the minority that opposes the peace agreement will be isolated in the region.”

Kouchner said talks would be held on Israel’s suspension of annexation of West Bank lands in the future, but “not in the near future.”

He said: “Attention is now focused on the UAE’s relations with Israel and Israel’s relations with other countries, and this is of the utmost importance for Israel and the region. Israel has agreed to suspend annexation of the land and suspend Israeli laws relating to those lands at the present time and I am confident that will be discussed. ” It is in the future, but not in the near future. “

And about the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt having severed diplomatic relations with Qatar since 2017, and whether there are any developments in this regard, Kouchner replied: “ I had the opportunity during this trip to discuss the matter with the leadership of the United Arab Emirates, and I will be visiting Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and there will be discussions for me. With their leaders too, US President Donald Trump wants progress on this issue. He added: “We will continue to make efforts in this regard until a just and appropriate solution is found.”
