Saudi women have been suffering for decades

The Crown Prince went on to point out that the Kingdom has worked to empower Saudi women in the field of work and personal status, and that he is today effectively a partner of Saudi men in the development of the homeland without discrimination.

Women’s participation in the labor market has doubled

Then he noted that his remarks were not just about driving a car, but also about the ability for women to lead development in their home country in the broadest sense. He mentioned, for example, that the rate of participation of women in the labor market had doubled from 17% to 31%.

It should be noted that the guardian of the two holy mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, had ordered in September 2017 to issue automobile driving licenses to women of the Kingdom.

At the time, the provisions of the Traffic Law and its implementing regulations, including the issuance of driving licenses, were applied to both men and women, as a high-level committee was formed from ministries of the interior, finance, labor and social development to enforce this.

In turn, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman concluded his speech, stressing that these achievements would not have been achieved without the faith and work of the Saudi citizen, who has now become a pioneer of initiative, achievement and of action.

He announced that he had instructed the Minister of Information and the ministers concerned to hold a periodic press conference to discuss the evolution of the work of the government, activate the channels of communication with all groups and respond to requests for information and questions.
