On the occasion of “World Diabetes Day”, the Ministry of the National Guard released today, Saturday, important statistics to protect Saudi families from the dangers of this disease, in order to preserve the future of the Kingdom and its permanent youth.
On its official Twitter account, the ministry said that according to World Sharing Organization classifications, the Kingdom ranks second among countries in the Middle East and seventh in the world in terms of the prevalence of diabetes.
She said: “An estimated 7 million people have the disease, and 3 million more have pre-diabetes,” noting that this disease has increased tenfold in the Kingdom over the past three decades and that the number of children with t1dm has passed the half-million mark for the first time. In 2015 “.
The ministry said that Saudi Arabia’s health budget in 2014 was 180 billion riyals, and nearly 25 billion was used exclusively to manage diabetes.
