You don’t have to settle for the original game ports anymore if you want another fix for The World Ends With You. Square Enix has unveiled Neo: The World Ends With You, a full-fledged sequel to the classic Nintendo DS JRPG for PS4 (What, not PS5?) And Switch. You take on the role of Rindo as he travels through high-rise Shibuya to face another spooky “harvester game” where loss wipes people out of existence.
There aren’t many details on gameplay or plot changes, but the distinctive graffiti-inspired art style and character design (partly created by Tetsuya Nomura from Final Fantasy) remains.
As it is. It’s also clear that role-playing is as hectic as ever, if it’s clear that it’s making better use of modern consoles.
Neo arrives in the summer of 2021, nearly 14 years after The World Ends With You debuted. It’s a long time between releases, but Square Enix is clearly betting that the old Switch port and nostalgia will draw you in.
