The “Lufthansa” airline is experimenting with a new concept which allows you to stretch out in economy class

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Having your own space has become one of the most important things you currently have on your mind with social distancing. But would you pay extra to be able to stretch out in a row of economy class seats?

Lufthansa, a German airline, is testing the new Sleeper’s Row concept on its flights from Frankfurt, Germany, to Sao Paulo, Brazil, from November 18 to mid-December.

During this idea, passengers traveling in economy class can use a row of 3 or 4 seats to lie down, mimicking the experience of a flatbed business class.

Passengers will receive a blanket, pillow and seat cover for maximum comfort and will be granted priority boarding.

Those interested in this experience must purchase an upgrade at the airport, either upon check-in or at the gate by adding $ 260 to the original ticket price.

Innovative designs for economy class seats

The concept is not new, since 2011 Air New Zealand has offered a similar concept called “Skycoach” in economy class.

And in 2019, Airbus introduced the concept of “Settee Corner” for the first time.

The concept was inspired by the Economy Class Three Row Seat, which is a luxurious flat sofa style seat that takes up less space and is lighter than a business class seat.

Earlier this year, Air New Zealand upgraded economy class flat beds to a new level, filing a patent for a new concept called ‘Economy Skynest’, which is a 6-room economy class configuration.

At the same time, designer Geoffrey O’Neill recently presented his future concept of economy class seats, the “Zephyr” seat, a two-tier seating arrangement.
