BEIJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) – China’s Chang’e-5 spacecraft successfully landed on the near side of the moon on Tuesday evening and sent photos, the Chinese Space Administration said.
At 11:11 p.m. today, the spacecraft landed in the predetermined landing zone near 51.8 degrees west longitude and 43.1 degrees north latitude, the China National Space Administration reported.
On November 24, China launched the “Chang’e-5” spacecraft, which consists of an orbiter, a lander, an embarkation and return craft.
At 10:57 p.m. today, the group of landing craft and landing craft, at an altitude of about 15 km above the surface of the moon, began an automatic landing with a variable propulsion engine on . Relative vertical clearance on the moon has been reduced from 1.7 km per second to zero.
After automatically detecting and identifying the obstructions, the probe determined the location and landed north of Mons Romker near the storms, on the near side of the moon.
Approximately 2 kg of samples are expected to be collected and sealed in a container. The embarkation boats will then take off and join orbit and put the groups of machines back into orbit. Once the samples are transferred to the return vehicle, the ascent vehicle will be separated from the orbit and the return vehicle.
The orbiter should transport the craft back to Earth. The return craft is expected to enter the atmosphere and land in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, north of China.
