The Ministry of Commerce declared a branch of a company specializing in the trade of electrical appliances and household furniture in Dawadmi governorate. This came after a court ruling was issued to condemn the establishment of violation of the Anti-Commercial Fraud Act, and consumer fraud and fraud were proven by selling used household furniture ( tables and chairs) and claiming they were new.
The ministry released a summary of the court ruling issued by the Riyadh Criminal Court, which provided for the imposition of a financial fine, requiring the establishment to take back the adulterated goods, returning full value to the consumer and publishing the decision in two newspapers at the expense of the establishment.
The Ministry of Commerce claims to fight against perpetrators of fraud and counterfeiting and to apply legal sanctions against them. The anti-commercial fraud law provides for sentences of up to three years in prison, fines of up to one million riyals, or both, defamation of violators at their own expense, expulsion of violating workers to their countries and preventing them from returning to work in Saudi Arabia.
The ministry urges all consumers to submit their reports on violating establishments via the application of a “business report” at the link: https://mci.gov.sa/C-app, or via the communication center at number 1900, or the official website of the ministry on the Internet.
