The public relations director of Italian energy group Eni said on Wednesday that the Middle East, especially the Gulf, will play an increasing role in the company’s strategy.
“It is clear that the Gulf region is still the place to be,” Labo Pistelli said in an online interview.
He explained that the region contains 50 percent of the traditional energy reserves which can be exploited at the lowest costs.
He continued, “But most importantly, this is where there are a lot of new ideas and technologies … new technologies for producing renewable energy and building smart cities.”
Eni pledged earlier this year to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 80%, as part of one of the industry’s most ambitious clean energy initiatives.
