China achieved a “technological breakthrough” in space by safely bringing samples from the moon to Earth yesterday, performing the first such operation in 40 years.
The Chinese “Chanji 5” probe capsule landed in Inner Mongolia, “northern China,” according to the “Xinhua” news agency, citing the Chinese space agency.
It is hoped that the analysis of samples collected by “Changi 5” will contribute to a better understanding of the history of the moon. The mission also allowed the probe to refine the technologies needed to send astronauts to the moon, which is one of Beijing’s goals for 2030.
