The reality of the film industry in the Arab world
What is the reality of feature films in the MENA region? How does its participation affect local and international festivals?
In BBC Extra, do we highlight the role of these festivals? Do they contribute to raising the level of cinema in the region or are they only promotional and tourist activities? Guests of the episode are Algerian film critic and journalist Mohamed Allal, and Hania Mroueh, founder and director of Metropolis Cinematographic Art, the first film art center in Lebanon reviewing its plans to deal with the shutdown of the only cinema hall that presents independent films in Beirut.
The Extra TV program highlights unique human stories from our lives, which we live and tell Arab youth, every week Tuesdays and Thursdays on BBC Arabic at 5.30pm GMT.
