A source in the administration of President Donald Trump revealed today, Wednesday, that the United States is exerting pressure on another Arab or Islamic country to normalize its relations with Israel.
The Jerusalem Post quoted the source as saying that the administration was seeking to reach a normalization deal with that country, which it did not name, during the remaining three weeks of President Trump’s tenure.
The source, who participated in the negotiations of the recent normalization agreements between Arab countries and Israel, known as the Ibrahim accords, said: We are working hard to achieve this.
The Israeli newspaper said another source in the Trump administration confirmed these efforts.
Over the past four months, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco have joined the “Ibrahim” accords, which established open and formal diplomatic relations with Israel.
In recent weeks, sources in Jerusalem and Washington have said Indonesia, Mauritania, Niger and Oman could be the next countries on the list of standardization agreements.
On Thursday, US Ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft assured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of the continued Arab normalization with Israel.
Kraft said during his meeting in Jerusalem with Netanyahu that Arab countries would normalize their relations with Israel next year 2021, according to the Israeli channel “i24”.
