Tommy Docherty’s family announced the death of the former Manchester United and Scotland coach at the age of 92 after a long illness on Thursday.
Ducerte previously coached 12 clubs, including Chelsea and Aston Villa, and worked for some time in Australia after a busy stadium career in which he played 25 matches for Scotland between 1951 and 1959 and over 300 games at Preston North End.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of Tommy Docherty, which led to our winning the FA Cup in 1977. Everyone at the club sends their condolences to Tommy’s relatives,” Manchester United said on Twitter.
