Famous French fashion designer Pierre Cardin was buried in a private ceremony at the Montmartre cemetery in Paris.
Cardin, who died on Tuesday at the age of 98, was buried with his former partner Andre Oliver, who died in 1993.
The black coffin was decorated with a Cardin sword and the blade looked like a pair of entwined scissors with a needle eye and a spool of thread.
Cardin was born under the name Pietro Costante Cardin in 1922, then left Italy for France as a child and became a naturalized citizen.
During his career spanning more than 70 years, he revolutionized fashion and helped usher in the “golden age” of post-war fashion design with his modern style.
Cardin founded his own fashion company in 1950 and made a name for himself with groundbreaking designs such as the iconic bubble dress in 1954 and the Space Age collection in 1964.
Members of his family confirmed his death on Tuesday in a hospital near Paris, and told AFP they were proud of “the stubborn ambition and daring he has shown throughout his life. life”.
The fashion world around the world praised Cardin, just as French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier thanked him for “opening the doors to fashion and making my dream possible”.
