The head of the National Astronomical Research Institute in Egypt, Gad Al-Qadi, announced on Sunday that the sky over the Egyptian capital Cairo will witness a new astronomical phenomenon today and tomorrow. From the “Echo of the Country” site.
In addition, the judge added that the phenomenon is a cluster of meteors, which he calls “the Rubaiyat meteor shower”.
He estimated the number of meteors in this rain to be over 40 meteors per hour, pointing out that this happens when the sky is completely dark and these meteors are caused by the remains of an ancient asteroid known as (2003 EH1), which was discovered in 2003.
He pointed out that “this asteroid revolves around the sun every five and a half years, and the humpback moon will be blocked by most faint meteors this year.”
The head of the National Astronomical Research Institute in Egypt said the best view of this phenomenon is after midnight, and that it must come from a completely dark place away from city lights, provided the sky is clear and free of clouds and dust.
