An unprecedented astronomical phenomenon in the sky of Cairo

The head of the National Astronomical Research Institute in Egypt, Gad Al-Qadi, has announced that the Cairo sky will witness a new astronomical phenomenon today and tomorrow.

The judge added that the phenomenon is a cluster of meteors called “the Rubaiyat meteor shower”.

He estimated the number of meteors in that rain to be over 40 meteors per hour, noting that “it happens when the sky is completely dark and these meteors are caused by the remains of an ancient asteroid known as ( EH1) 2003 which was discovered in 2003, ”according to the Echo Al Balad website. “.

He pointed out that “this asteroid revolves around the sun every five and a half years, and the humpback moon will be blocked by most faint meteors this year.”

The judge said the best view of this phenomenon is after midnight and from a completely dark location away from city lights, provided the sky is clear and free of clouds and dust.
