Portuguese health authorities are investigating the sudden death of a pediatric surgical assistant nurse in Porto, who is said to be in “perfect health” when she received the Pfizer vaccine against the coronavirus.
On Monday, she was identified as Sonya Azevedo, 41, a mother of two who works as a surgical assistant at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO), an oncology hospital in Porto.
She was one of 538 IPO healthcare workers who received their first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine last Wednesday. Azevedo had dinner with her family on New Years Eve and was found dead in bed the next morning.
“I want to know the cause of my daughter’s death,” her father Abilio told Portuguese newspaper Orreio da Manha. He described her as “good and happy. She has never drunk alcohol, nor eaten anything special or extraordinary ”.
“Ms. Acevedo did not experience any unwanted side effects after being vaccinated”
I do not know. I think I would call death an unwanted side effect 🤷🏾♂️
