He says, “If you’re trying to cut back on sugar but can’t imagine life without chocolate (or whatever dessert you choose!), Then consider indulging in only certain days of the week. Other days find an alternative like dried fruit to keep it handy, handy, in case you really feel the urge.
Other hidden health risks to watch out for
Braithwaite cautions that there are countless health benefits of consuming fruit, but you should be wary of its fructose content, which is a natural sugar found in fruits, juices, some vegetables, and honey.
To ensure maximum health benefits while minimizing the risks of fructose, you should choose to eat whole fruit rather than juice, advises Braithwaite.
He also explains, “Whole fruit is unrefined and therefore is much better for you than other sugary snacks, because of the fiber and nutrients it contains, which counteracts many of the harmful effects of fructose. The obvious conclusion here is to try to replace candy or sugary snacks with whole fruit. ” “.
But, he points out, there may be other possibilities to do this as well, such as replacing the sugar in the cereal with dried berries or eating strawberries with a little chocolate rather than a bar of chocolate alone.
“It’s worth noting that while the juice preserves some of the fruit’s nutrients and vitamins, it ignores the fiber – leaving you with the same amount of fructose you get in Coca-Cola,” adds Braithwaite.
