Sunday .. “triple planetary coupling” rare Sunday .. “triple planetary coupling” rare, today, Saturday January 9, 2021 4:12 am
A triple conjunction between the planets (Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury) will be observed in the sky of the Arab world on the evening of next Sunday, approximately 45 minutes after sunset.
Engineer Majed Abu Zahra, head of the Jeddah Astronomical Society, said in a statement released today, Thursday, that the three planets will form a small triangle, and to view them, telescopes must be used, as the planets will be low towards the horizon, and that the horizon should be completely exposed without the presence of obstacles such as buildings and mountains.
He explained that the planet Jupiter will fall directly above Saturn, although the luminosity of Saturn is equivalent to the luminosity of a first degree star – like the luminosity of the brightest stars in the sky – but the planet with rings cannot compete with Jupiter, which outperforms it by about 11 times, pointing out that Jupiter is the fourth brightest celestial body, after the sun, moon and Venus, respectively, and at the top left of Saturn (per relative to the observer) will see Mercury.
He added that day by day Jupiter and Saturn will descend to the site of sunset and in return Mercury will rise away from the light of sunset.
