Dr Raji Tawadros, director of health affairs in Qena, explained that the maternal and fetal health initiative has successfully reached more than 8,000 pregnant women to date.
Dr Raji said the initiative aims to detect pregnant women from the first day of pregnancy until childbirth, with the aim of rapidly detecting many diseases transmitted from mother to fetus, the most important of which are HIV and hepatitis B,
And syphilis, stressing that the medical team trained in the detection of women is obliged to follow all means of protection and infection control when detecting women.
He explained that this is a continuation of the actions of the presidential initiative, Maternal and Fetal Health, which is part of the presidential initiatives of 100 million, which aims to provide all medical services to all citizens.
Dr Sumaya Hassan Mohamed, Director of the Department of Maternal and Child Welfare, said the initiative is not limited to the detection of these diseases only, but also includes the detection of sugar and pressure for pregnant women, as well as awareness-raising and counseling, stressing that the initiative is taking place in 150 health units spread across the governorate.
