The Saudi Ministry of Health has announced the approval of the AstraZeneca and Moderna coronavirus vaccines, following the Pfizer-Bionic vaccine that had been approved earlier in the Kingdom.

The director of health in the eastern province, Dr Ibrahim Al-Arifi, said in an interview with Al-Arabiya that the approved vaccines are Pfizer – Biontec, AstraZeneca and Moderna, explaining that the competition is global for vaccines and that ‘There is a great demand for the Pfizer vaccine, but there are good quantities coming to Saudi Arabia for vaccination.

He spoke about the increase in the number of workers in vaccine distribution centers in Saudi Arabia, as they have gained good experience, so the work cycle has become faster and faster with the expansion of the rooms. receipt of the vaccine recipient.

He revealed that the Al-Ahsa vaccination center is ready and that we are waiting for the vaccines to arrive in light of global competition for them, and we will start in a week or two as work is underway to equip the center. Hafar Al-Batin, which is expected to operate from next month.

He added that the number of people registered in the “My Health” app in the Eastern Province reached around 400,000 people, while around 60,000 people received the vaccine.

It should be noted that the number of people registered in the application “My health” to receive the vaccine in the Kingdom exceeded two million people, in the first month of the start of the vaccine distribution.

According to statistics from last month, the Saudi Ministry of Health receives 100,000 doses of the Pfizer Bionic vaccine per week.

The ministry plans to achieve 80% community immunity, while the vaccination campaign continues in Saudi Arabia with the Pfizer vaccine, pending the arrival of quantities of other vaccines and new doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
